Did you know that girls who regularly spend time outdoors more readily seek challenges and are better problem solvers than their peers? According to a study by the Girl Scout Research Institute, More Than S’mores (2014), girls benefit immensely from time spent outdoors. This summer, give your girl the opportunity to build her skills, try new outdoor activities and develop a strong sense of self. Registration to attend Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council (GSSJC) summer camp is now open with dozens of sessions to choose from. Week-long sessions begin June 12 and end July 29 and are held at one of three Girl Scout camp locations: Camps Agnes Arnold and Misty Meadows located in Conroe, and Camp Casa Mare located in Seabrook. Girl Scout camp is open to all girls in grades 1-12, including non-registered members. Shadow Lake is the main attraction at Camp Agnes Arnold. The lake offers 35 acres of cool, refreshing fun for campers. Girls who attend sessions there will enjoy canoeing, swimming, nature and fishing and sleeping in unique accommodations, including platforms, tents and tress houses. -
